5.8. Deactivation

To reuse an activated license on another computer, it must be first deactivated from the computer where it was originally installed. Afterwards, it can be reactivated on another computer.

5.8.1. Online Deactivation

PLC Reports can be deactivated online provided that an Internet connection is available. To use a license on another computer, it must be first deactivated from the computer where it was originally installed.

If the pre-conditions are fulfilled, proceed as follows:

  1. Start PLC Reports.
  2. In the “Home” section click “License Manager”. The License Manager opens.
  3. Click the button “Deactivate Online”.
  4. After successful deactivation, the license can be reused on another computer.

5.8.2. Manual Deactivation

Besides the online deactivation, PLC Reports can also be deactivated manually. There are two options available:

  1. Deactivation by email
    The pre-condition for deactivation by email is that the computer has an access to an email account.
  2. Deactivation by generating a text which can be transferred to a computer with an email account.

5.8.3. Manual Deactivation by Email

To deactivate PLC Reports, proceed as follows:

  1. Start PLC Reports
  2. In the “Home” section click “License Manager”. The License Manager opens.
  3. Click the button “Request Deactivation – Generate Email”.
  4. Confirm the deactivation dialog by clicking “Yes”.

  5. The standard email client of the computer opens and a deactivation request email is being generated.

  6. Send the email to the stated email recipient.
  7. PLC Reports is now deactivated. You will receive a confirmation email. Please note that manual deactivation requests may take a few days. The online re-activation of the same license is only available after the confirmation was received, but an email re-activation request for another computer can be sent immediately after the deactivation.

5.8.4. Manual Deactivation by Text

If no Internet connection and no email support are available, please proceed as follows:

  1. Start PLC Reports
  2. In the “Home” section click “License Manager”. The License Manager opens.
  3. Click the button “Request Deactivation – Generate Text”.
  4. Confirm the deactivation dialog by clicking “Yes”.

  5. A deactivation request text is being generated and copied to the Windows Clipboard.

  6. Create a new Text, Word or WordPad file.
  7. Paste the text from the Clipboard into the file by pressing CTRL+V or by using the menu command “Paste”.
  8. Save the file and copy it to a computer with an email account.
  9. Send the deactivation request text from the file to the stated email recipient.
  10. PLC Reports is now deactivated. You will receive a confirmation email. Please note that manual deactivation requests may take a few days. The online re-activation of the same license is only available after the confirmation was received, but an email re-activation request for another computer can be sent immediately after the deactivation.
